THIS WEEK IN BUDA

Good morning Buda. This week we’ve got a little bit of sweetness, a little bit of Main Street fun, and a big update on one of Buda’s most familiar corners.

In this week’s Buda Gazette:

  • A local bakery serving mini conchas, marranitos, tres leches, and more

  • A young entrepreneur market for local kids

  • A bigger grocery store is on it’s way to Buda

Let’s dive in.

RESTAURANTS
South Texas Style: Abuelita’s Bakery Shop

Abuelita’s Bakery Spot is one of those Buda places that makes a weekend morning feel instantly better. Step inside and you get that fresh-baked smell right away: Mexican-style pastries, mini conchas, marranitos, cookie boxes, tres leches cake, breakfast tacos, and the classic pink cake slice that deserves its own little fan club.

What makes Abuelita’s especially fun is that there always seems to be something new coming out of the oven. Around holidays, they get creative with special pastry drops, from Valentine’s Day concha bouquets to Easter treats and even concha graduation leis this year. It’s local, family-rooted baking with the kind of charm that feels personal, fresh, and made with a whole lot of care. If you haven’t been yet, this is a great little Buda stop to add to your morning rotation.

Eric’s Pick: Skip the donuts and grab some traditional pastries. I always get a box of mini conchas and marranitos.

WHAT’S HAPPENING
Young Entrepreneur Market pops up on Main Street this Sunday

Here’s a sweet one to add to your weekend list: a Young Entrepreneur Market is popping up at The Oak on Main. The market will feature youth vendors (ages 5-17), giving local kiddos a chance to run their own booths, sell their creations, and get a little real-world business experience right here in Buda.

It’s also happening right across from the Sunday farmers market area and at the same time, so this is an easy two-for-one Main Street stop. Grab your farmers market haul, then swing by to support the next generation of local makers, bakers, artists, and tiny business owners.

NEW & NOTEWORTHY
A bigger H-E-B is on the way for Buda

Buda is getting a big upgrade on Main Street. A new, larger H-E-B is planned across from the current store near I-35 and Main, bringing more space, more selection, and a fresh new grocery destination to a piece of land that was once used as a landfill. It’s a nice improvement for one of Buda’s most visible corners.
